This is my tried-and-tested nude lip combo – the one I reach for when I’m short on time but still want to feel polished and put together.
All three are affordable and flattering but still kind to my over-40 lips. I’ve repurchased each of them countless times and they’ve earned a permanent place in my makeup bag.

MAX FACTOR – Colour Elixir Lipstick 005 Simply Nude
A soft, flattering nude that works with almost everything.
- Good for: Comfortable everyday wear and it looks great
- Finish: Lightweight, smooth, hydrating
- Why I keep it: Affordable and moisturising on mature lips

Rimmel Lasting Finish 8HR Lip Liner – Cappuccino
A classic brown liner that pairs beautifully with nude lipsticks.
- Good for: Shape, definition, and staying power
- Finish: Smooth and easy to blend
- Why I keep it: It defines my lips without feathering or budging

Maybelline Lifter Gloss – Shade 002 Ice
I almost want to gatekeep this so it NEVER sells out – that’s how much I love it. The glossy finishing touch I never skip.
- Good for: Comfortable shine with a subtle blurring effect
- Finish: Glossy but not sticky
- Why I keep it: I repurchase this constantly and always keep backups
