The Soft Burgundy Mascara That Makes Green Eyes Pop

I picked this mascara up purely out of curiosity — I wasn’t expecting much beyond a fun colour payoff— but it’s quickly become one of those products I reach for when I want definition without the heaviness of a true black lash.

The shade is a soft burgundy that brings out every bit of green in my eyes, and the formula performs far better than I expected for something so affordable. What impressed me most is how clean and steady it stays throughout the day. My eyes are over 40, very hooded, and most mascaras end up transferring onto my upper lids or under eyes within a few hours. This one didn’t move. No smudging, no flaking, no little dots under the brow bone — even after a full 12‑hour wear test.

Here’s why it’s earned its own place next to my long‑standing favourites.

Soft Burgundy Mascara That Makes Green Eyes Pop L’Oréal Paris Volume Million Lashes Panorama Mascara – Bordeaux Cashmere

L’Oréal Paris Volume Million Lashes Panorama Mascara – Bordeaux Cashmere

A soft burgundy mascara that enhances green eyes beautifully while giving length, lift and a surprisingly smooth finish.

Good for: Hooded eyes, green or hazel eyes (although would look amazing on all eyes, especially the black shade), softer makeup days, subtle definition
Finish: Lifted, lengthened, buildable without clumping
Why I keep it: It gives me gentle, flattering definition on days I don’t want a full black lash, but it still builds into long, thick lashes when I want more impact. And it stays where it should — even on my hooded eyes.

Why this mascara works

The colour is the real star. Bordeaux Cashmere is a muted burgundy that doesn’t scream “coloured mascara,” but it adds just enough warmth to make green eyes look brighter and more dimensional. It’s subtle in the best way — noticeable when the light hits, but never overpowering. Gives a sparkle that is unassuming yet beautiful.

The formula itself is lightweight and flexible, which means it layers well without going spiky or heavy. One coat gives soft definition; two or three give that lifted, elongated look that still feels appropriate for everyday wear.

And the staying power surprised me. I wore it for 12 hours — 2 hours on the walk pad while working, laptop time, a mega yawning session at 3pm, dinner — and it looked exactly the same at the end of the day. No transfer onto my upper lids, which is a MUST for me in a mascara.

How does it compare to my favourite Extensionist mascara?

Extensionist is still my number one for thick, dramatic length — nothing beats it right now, for that sharp, lifted lash look. But Panorama has its own place in my routine.

The colour makes it softer.
The finish makes it easy.
The wear time makes it trustworthy.

They’re different, but they complement each other perfectly.

L’Oréal are having a moment for me

I’ve used the same high‑end mascara for over 15 years — formulas like Lancôme Hypnôse have held the top spot in my makeup bag for as long as I can remember. But L’Oréal are genuinely knocking them off their pedestal right now.

The formulas are:

  • reliable
  • flattering
  • long‑wearing
  • affordable
  • beautifully designed for real, everyday eyes

It’s rare for a high‑street brand to outperform my long‑time favourites, but they’re doing it and I’m loving it!
